Back in 2013 when the original Lamborghini Huracan launched it was highly praised for its performance as well as the fact that it was the most refined car Lamborghini had made.
However in spite of having a naturally aspirated 5.2L V10 that made 602bhp or 610ps it was called by many too refined for a Lamborghini and lacked the sheer madness of past Lamborghinis.
Lamborghini answered in 2017 by giving us the Huracan Performante-a track focused version of the regular Huracan with 30 more bhp and Lamborghini's new active aero system called the ALA system.
The car bought back the 'madness' many said was missing from the regular car and was one of the fastest cars around most tracks around the planet.
Lamborghini has now come up with the successor to the original Huracan with the Huracan EVO.
To get one thing straight out of the way this is not the successor to the performante but to the regular Huracan.
It uses the 5.2L V10 in the same configuration as the performante but does not have the ALA active aero system but instead uses active torque vectoring and four wheel steering to make it the best experience on the road.
It also gets a touch screen infotainment system which was used in the multi million dollar Lamborghini Centenario which is a lot better then the system used in the Aventador and past Huracans.
According to Lamborghini the new EVO will hit 62mph from a stand still in a mind boggling 2.9seconds and this figure is said to be conservative as it has been tested to do 62mph from a stand still in as low as 2.5seconds which is Bugatti territory. The EVO will hit 100mph in 5.7 seconds and cover the quarter mile in 10.4 seconds at 135mph.
The car retains the dual exhaust system of the performante and adds on to the design of the regular Huracan to make it look a lot meaner and aggressive-the key traits of a Lamborghini. The 7 speed dual clutch transmission is still one of the fastest transmission fitted to any car.
However all of this performance with the sound of the glorious V10 does come at a price and that number is $268,000 and that's just the starting price before you add any options. A fully optioned car can cost upwards of $350,000.
This is the Lamborghini which best combines the Lamborghini DNA with a modern day super car thats easy to live with.
